In the 1950s, Domenic and Iolanda Pinelli left their home in the mountainous region of Molise in Italy for a new life in the Swan Valley of Western Australia.
Domenic and Iolanda had a vision of a family winery built on the tradition of their Italian heritage and the opportunities offered by the temperate climate of the Swan Valley wine region.
After more than twenty years of working in the West Australian Wine Industry, Dominic took the next step in achieving the family’s dream and purchased what he still calls “the pick of the vineyards in the area”, a 7 acre block in Caversham. This became the site for what would become the Pinelli Estate Winery & Restaurant, Cellar Door and Vineyard.
Built on experience, shared knowledge and a huge amount of hard work, Domenic and Iolanda built the foundation of Pinelli Wines. They established a winery that produces a wide range of premium wines that express the varietal character of the Swan Valley region in which they are produced.

From the very beginning, Dominic and Iolanda shared their passion and knowledge for wine making with their children. The very idea of a ‘family winery’, meant that future generations would continue the vision for the winery.
And it is a family effort. Today, Dominic and Iolanda’s sons, Robert and Daniel ensure that the focus and commitment to quality wine and happy customers continues.
The Pinelli philosophy is to ensure exceptional quality from the vineyard to the glass. From humble beginnings, Pinelli Wines has now grown to become a second generation family winery that produces around 150,000 litres of wine per year.

THE SWAN VALLEY TERROIR

Few people know that the wine making industry in the Swan Valley actually began over 180 years ago. The early settlers recognised that the Swan Valley region offered a fertile planting ground to plant the vine cuttings that they brought with them from the Cape region of South Africa.
The Swan Valley in Western Australia is an ideal region to grow grapes and produce premium wines. The climate offers beautifully sunny days in summer and wet and nourishing rains in winter. The result is the perfect environment for the ripening of grapes that deliver maximum flavour.
Wines from the vineyards of the Swan Valley region are approachable and drinkable from an early age – the white wines are delicate and soft and the red wines are full and rich in flavour.
